Our Club is open to everyone over 18 years of age; male or female. Please check our checklist below, to find out if joining a Cycling Club is suitable for you?

When are your Club rides?

Our Club Rides are scheduled every Saturday but we do have other Social rides on Sundays. Make sure you check Our Rides Page for more details.

What speed I should expect?

We would expect you to manage at least 22km/h - 26km/h on a flat surfaces, we call it "Cruising Speed". But we do offer faster rides for more advanced members.

What distance I should expect?

Depending on the type of ride you would like to join, expect rides between 50-100 kilometres for our Club rides, or you can join our Social rides on Sundays, with average distance of 40 kilometres.

No, we ask all new members to register as a full member or request demo ride. If you are experienced rider, then signup and join us for a next club ride!

Do I need a road bike?

Yes, for the best experience, and in order to keep our cruising speed and with the other members of the group, you must have decent road bike!

How to become a member?

We ask each member to become full member with an an easy, simple 2 minute application form, pay our annual fee of £49 and we will email you important details and rules about our Club. You can also Request Demo ride and try before you buy.

What equipment do I need?

Always carry suitable clothing for the weather, food, drinks, a tool kit which including 2 spare tubes, tyre levers, and a pump, helmet, and positive attitude.

Surrey Cycling Club is an established, British Cycling affiliated road cycling club based in Weybridge. Founded in 2020, we have grown to over 150 members from around the Surrey, all united by a love for road cycling. Whether you are from Walton-on-Thames, Chertsey, West Byfleet, Woking, Shepperton, Addlestone, Staines-upon-Thames, Ashford, Cobham or beyond, you will find your place here. Our Annual membership cost £49 p/year

⚠️ Surrey Cycling Club is for cyclists with road cycling experience and basic fitness. Our rides typically last 2-4 hours over varied terrain. Not suitable for complete beginners.

Coaching and Development

Surrey Cycling Club has hired professional coaches Lizi Brooke, Pro Athlete, and Joe Staunton from Ceyreste Performance as our club coaches for 2026. They will ride with our active groups multiple times throughout the year, leading structured training rides with real time feedback. Expect hands on coaching on group riding skills, positioning, paceline technique and practising different ride formats. Lizi runs weekly Zwift coaching sessions through autumn and winter to keep everyone sharp. Joe hosts webinars on nutrition, fuelling and performance optimisation.

Find Your Group

We post a variety of club rides at different paces and distances. Ride Captains choose routes and objectives to keep things fresh and exciting. G3 and G4 teach you paceline and chain-gang skills in a supportive environment. G5 and G6 are for experienced riders seeking serious challenges. We also run development days at Hillingdon Circuit to sharpen your skills.

Our Frequently Asked Questions about our Club & Rides

Our club welcomes anyone over 18 years old with some cycling experience who can maintain a reasonable pace on the road.

Please refer to our Group Pace Page to see which group suits your current cycling abilities and fitness level.

Currently, we welcome members who have the fitness level to ride in our G3 G4 G5 and G6 groups, as these are our most active groups. G1 and G2 rides are not very regular at the moment, since many members have moved up to higher groups. We'll do our best to accommodate you as soon as rides become available.

No. Surrey Cycling Club is a private members' club. You cannot just turn up to our rides.

To participate, you must submit our Application Form first.

During the application process, you can choose to either:

Become a Full Member - Pay the annual membership fee and start riding immediately, or
Request a Demo Ride - Wait to be invited to a suitable Demo Ride based on your selected group

Once you submit your application, you'll receive an email with all the details, including your account information and next steps.

Important: Uninvited riders will be turned away from all rides. This policy ensures the safety and organisation of our club activities.

Full Membership: Complete our Application Form and pay the £49 annual membership fee. You'll receive an email with your account login details, club rules, and everything you need to start riding.

Demo Ride Option: If you'd like to try before you commit, you can request a Demo Ride through our Application Form. You'll be invited to a suitable ride based on your selected group preference. You can attend up to 2 demo rides before being asked to join as a Full Member. However, you can Become a Full Member at any time - you don't need to complete both demos first.

Invitation Process:

After submitting your Demo Ride Request, we'll invite you to a suitable ride in your selected group (subject to availability).
Each ride is limited to 8,10 or 12 riders total maximum, inc. up to 2 demo riders per ride.
You'll receive an invitation email with full ride details - you must RSVP to secure your spot.
Invitations are confirmed first-come, first-served.
Once confirmed, you'll receive a Pre-Ride Briefing email with everything you need to know.

What to bring:

A road bike in good mechanical condition (no hybrids, mountain bikes, or city bikes)
A helmet (mandatory - no helmet, no ride)
At least one water bottle (two for longer rides)
Basic repair kit (spare tube, pump, tyre levers)
Appropriate cycling clothing for the weather
Mobile phone for emergencies

Important: Arrive 15-20 minutes early. The group leaves promptly at the designated time. You can attend up to 2 demo rides before being asked to Become a Full Member.

Club rides take place every weekend (Saturdays and Sundays). We also organise additional rides during the week, evenings, and on Bank Holidays.

Important: Surrey Cycling Club is a private club. All ride details are posted on our Strava Club, but you must be a registered member to see and join rides. Once you're a member, you'll have full access to view all upcoming rides, routes, distances, elevations, and meeting points.

Yes, but you have time. All members are expected to wear our Club Jersey or Gilet during spring and summer rides.

Grace Period: New members have 3 months from joining to purchase their Club Kit.

Winter Relaxed Rules: During winter months, our club rules are relaxed - wear whatever keeps you warm and safe. However, wearing a Club Gilet or our Winter Kit is recommended and welcome! We have over 40 kit products in our shop covering summer, winter, and everything in between.
